Claim Clear is a new feature in your Envato subscription that automates and speeds up the clearance of YouTube Content ID claims on your videos.

When a video is uploaded to YouTube, if it contains music that matches a song in YouTube's Content ID copyright registry, a copyright "claim" will appear on the video. This is simply a notice that YouTube Content ID has detected some copyrighted material and requires a bit of extra information before the video can be monetized (such as proof you have licensed the music from Envato).

Typically, this meant disputing a claim through YouTube and referencing your Envato license certificate. Now, for the majority of music on Envato, Claim Clear can be used to quickly and easily clear these copyright notices for you.

Listing your YouTube channel(s) in your Envato Claim Clear settings is the easiest option for clearing claims, as any videos using Claim Clear music uploaded after you list the channel will be automatically cleared - saving you time and effort.

You can easily clear specific videos, including your client projects, using the individual video clearance tool. If your client notifies you of a claim, simply enter the YouTube URL of your client's video that uses Claim Clear music, and the claims will be promptly removed.

If a track isn't covered by Claim Clear, it means you won't be able to clear it directly or automatically through Envato. In that case:

  • If the track is not registered with Content ID, it shouldn't trigger a copyright claim from YouTube at all.
  • Otherwise, if you receive a copyright claim, you can clear it as usual through YouTube's dispute form by referencing your Envato license certificate. License certificates can be found in Downloads. Learn more about clearing claims in our Guide to YouTube Content ID.

If you've used Claim Clear but still see a copyright claim, the most likely reason is that one or more of the tracks used are not yet Claim Clear ready. In this case, you'll need to dispute the claim via YouTube and reference your Envato license. Learn more about clearing claims in our Guide to YouTube Content ID.

Other possible reasons include:

  • Processing Delay - YouTube's system can take time to update. Claims usually clear within a few hours but may take up to 24 hours.
  • Multiple Claims - If your video includes other music or content, we may have successfully cleared one or more claims, but remaining claim(s) might be from a different source.
  • Misidentified Claim - Occasionally, claims appear due to errors in YouTube's fingerprinting system.

No. Currently, Claim Clear only works with YouTube's Content ID system.

If you are having any issues with copyright claims for videos using Envato music on other platforms such as Facebook, please contact our support team.

Claim Clear requires an active subscription, so after your subscription lapses, you will no longer be able to use Claim Clear to easily clear Content ID claims on any newly uploaded videos, and your channels will no longer be listed for automatic clearance of new claims.

You can still clear any outstanding claims as usual through YouTube's dispute form by referencing your existing Envato license certificates. Any videos that were previously cleared via Claim Clear will remain cleared.
